Title: “Piss & Vinegar (art and ferment)” Date: 2014
Media: Two framed limited edition prints; home-brewed bottled red wine vinegar with label adaptation of Abushady’s letterhead; recipe box of 4×6 inch photographs that document Abushady’s apiary (ca.1920s) and Garnett’s vinegar-making process (ca.2013); 10×8″ framed photograph of Zaky and Annie Abushady at The Apis Club ca. 1920. Dimensions variable.

“Piss & Vinegar (art and ferment)” reflects the pioneering spirit of Garnett’s grandparents, Egyptian poet and beekeeper Ahmed Zaky Abushady and his English wife Annie. The installation produced for FOODshed consisted of bottles of home-fermented red wine vinegar labeled with an adaptation of Abushady’s bee logo, and photos of the family’s apiaries in England and Egypt juxtaposed with documentation of Garnett’s vinegar-making process.
